The world of Jagat is complex and richly cultured. It is a large world containing many different habitats home to a wide variety of creatures. Jagat is roughly twice the size of our Earth, but only half of it has been explored and established. This is because, unlike our Earth, Jagat's continents are not true continents - they are all connected. At least, the explored half is. The other half of Jagat lies across a large body of water - it is possible to see land on the distant horizon, but impossible to reach it. It is too far for a dragon or fairy to fly; many have died trying. For unexplained reasons, boats have always perished before reaching the ends of the water. Many have tried to get across the water via magic, but unfortunately the magic consumes too much energy for anyone to get fair. It is speculated that it may be possible to reach the new land by walking along a thin ice bridge that forms every one hundred years or so, but not many have ventured onto the bridge, and those who have were never seen again.
There are six main biomes in explored Jagat - grassland, rainforest, savannah, desert, alpine, and tundra.
Grassland is what dominates explored Jagat. Grassland is characterized as having a fairly equal mixture of sun and rain and a mainly warm climate in the Spring to Fall. As it is the most mild place to live, most choose to live mainly across the grassland and stray into the other biomes only occasionally. Dark green leafed trees with large, strong trunks dot the land in large clumps, creating forests of varying sizes with large clearings in between. There, undergrowth in the grassland is sparse, as the branches of the trees arc upward to form a great canopy of leaves. Large rivers flow throughout the grassland, never more than a few days' walk away from one another. The grassland contains a fair diversity of creatures, large and small.
Rainforest covers Southern Jagat and surrounds the largest body of water. Rainforest is characterized as being very warm and humid, having thickly growing forests full of trees with broad, dark green leaves and large red-brown to almost black trunks. As a great contrast with the grassland, the undergrowth in the rainforest is as thickly grown as the trees above. The trees of the rainforest tend to be of incredible size - many grow as thick as houses and can be hollowed out and lived in without killing the tree itself. Rivers great and small are thickly packed into the rainforest, and true to its name, it rains a lot. The rainforest contains the largest amount of creatures - you never know what you might find.
There are four main savannas in Jagat, the largest being in the west. Savanna is characterized as being hot but containing a lot of vegetation. There are few trees in the savanna, but those that do grow are dark gold in color with pale green or yellow leaves. Most of the vegetation in the savanna is comprised of shrubbery of all sizes. Low-growing shrubs provide protection for small animals, whereas tall, dense shrubs are used as natural walls in Jagatian and human settlements. Rivers are not as common as small lakes in the savanna. Most of the creatures living in the savanna are birds.
Jagatian deserts are very harsh places to live. They are hot, dry, and arid. There is little life in the vapid hearts of the deserts, and what there is is incredibly tough. 95% of desert life is within a few miles of the large water sources, and even that is a hard place to live. The low-growing trees in the desert are gray-brown all over, with small leaves and thick bases where water is stored. They are commonly called skeleton trees, as the higher they get the more their trunks and limbs thin out, and the erratic growth of the limbs resembles flailing appendages. The creatures of the desert are mainly small and quick, or very large and very formidable.
The only alpine in Jagat is a thick band surrounding the Jagatian tundra. Alpine is characterized as having hard, dark soil and a cool climate. The trees of the alpine are the only pine trees in Jagat, but they are also the most potentially hazardous trees. Some of the pine trees have soft needles, often used as bedding, but others have needles so sharp that brushing against them can draw blood. It is almost impossible to tell between the two, except that the dangerous trees have slightly darker needles. These trees are particularly deadly when they grow in large clumps - a specific deer-like animal called the Paerii likes to work in tandem with these trees, luring people in with its large, innocent eyes and then devouring them when they get fatally wounded by the needles. Most of the other alpine flora and fauna is harmless.
Tundra dominates eastern Jagat. Tundra is characterized as being very cold and covered with snow and ice. The areas around large bodies of water tend to have milder temperatures than those far away from the water. Contrary to Earth, trees DO grow in the Jagatian tundra. The tundra is arguably the most beautiful of all the biomes, mostly due to the trees. Everything from the trunk to the leaves is pure white and covered in tiny, shining ice crystals. The roots of these trees are capable of absorbing near-freezing water, which often freezes into ice by the time it reaches the outer limbs and leaves. The creatures of this land tend to be very elegant, but also very rare. Most are pure white.
There are six main bodies of water in Jagat. The largest begins in the middle of Jagat and leads out to the north. All of the main bodies of water are connected by huge rivers that interlace the entire discovered side of the world. All water on Jagat is fresh and safely drinkable straight from the source.

Earth is a very simple place. It is still in the process of rebuilding after almost all of humanity was wiped out. Most humans have chosen to permanently live in Jagat, but there are some who have decided to reside on Earth instead. Those who choose to live on Earth live in hand built structures and farm their own food. Some energy is manufactured through natural resources to keep an emergency communication line open between Earth and the world of Jagat, but other than that there is still very little technology on both planets. Most of the population enjoys this simple, peaceful life.
There are many stories that have been passed down from previous generations, which warned that in the old world advancements in technology tainted humanity. It is told that the strive for power is what made their ancestors turn against one another, and exploit the planet. The Jagatians are a very natural people, and they understandably have a large influence over the human population. For these reasons, it is unlikely that Earth will ever again be as it was before. It is now more of an extension of Jagatian life than a world of its own.
